THE GOSPEL JOURNEY MAP

Follow his footsteps.

Trace recorded episodes across the Gospels, revisit the towns Jesus returned to, and open the Bible passage at each stop. Chronology and travel lines are schematic where Scripture does not fix their exact order or route.

TRANSPARENT SOURCE REVIEW

Loading editorial audit register...

This is an AI-assisted initial source and location screening, not a scholarly peer-reviewed reconstruction. Scripture remains primary for what the Gospels and Acts narrate; excavations independently establish material culture, not the events themselves. The full set of qualified issues remains visible and is never silently presented as fact.

How to interpret this map: The Gospels and Acts are the primary sources for every listed episode. Multiple accounts of the same event are grouped as one entry, rather than counted as separate physical visits. The order is a study harmonisation, not a verified day-by-day itinerary. Some towns and roads are unrecorded; places including Egypt, the wilderness, Bethany beyond the Jordan, the Transfiguration mountain and Emmaus cannot be plotted exactly. Lines show a sequence of narrative settings, not a known walking route. The map does not claim to enumerate every unrecorded journey. Compare an independently published biblical map ↗

OUR DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP

Built with purpose.
Expanded with care.

Follow what Scripture Trails already offers and the research, study features and accuracy milestones we intend to tackle next. This is a transparent plan, not a promise of release dates.

Delivered milestones--Available capabilities and infrastructure
Upcoming and exploratory--Research and development priorities
Roadmap last reviewed--Updated when features or decisions materially change

WHAT COMES NEXT

Evidence before expansion.

Our immediate emphasis is to make the historical and biblical foundations more rigorous.

How statuses work: Delivered means the functionality has been built and tested, not that every historical claim has passed scholarly review. Up next lists priorities, Planned lists intended directions, and Research marks items requiring study, permissions or a decision. We will not attribute a future milestone to an outside institution without the necessary rights or evidence.

    ABOUT SCRIPTURE TRAILS

    Discover with discernment.

Designed for thoughtful Bible study, where Scripture is kept distinct from commentary.

A study tool, not a replacement for Scripture.

Scripture Trails lets you read an ESV passage, follow verse references and explore editorially selected connections. The atlas now uses a substantially expanded OpenBible.info cross-reference network, alongside separately labelled editorial links. It explores up to 10 hops using bounded samples; not every possible path appears at once.

    How connections are labelled

Quotation: a New Testament author quotes or cites another passage. Parallel: similar accounts or teaching. Echo: shared imagery or wording. Theme: a human-curated thematic association. Additional imported links are labelled as dataset references, not automatically classified as quotation or prophecy. Context links only move to neighbouring verses when no cross-reference is known.

    History and interpretation

The Bible is the primary text for biblical claims. Historical background, authorship, dating and interpretative explanations should separately identify their evidence and uncertainty. Connected verses do not automatically establish a particular theological reading.

    Gospel journey map

The separately accessible Journeys of Jesus map draws its episodes from the Gospels and Acts, with a Bible citation for each event. It displays repeated episodes in the same town and has a draggable event timeline. Locations are modern approximate coordinates or clearly indicated regional placeholders, and drawn connectors do not assert a historical walking route. Order across different Gospel accounts is an editorial study reconstruction.

    Data and privacy

Saved passages and notes are kept in your browser's local storage; there is no account or cloud sync. ESV text is requested from Crossway through a server-side API proxy where enabled, never embedded in this application's downloadable source.

    Source and licence information

ESV: Official English Standard Version text supplied by Crossway's API when the site operator has obtained a valid key. The ESV is copyrighted and is not included in the repository.

Authorised study editions: ESV, NASB 2020 and LSB. Only the ESV is served on this website. NASB 2020 and LSB use external official readers; no NASB or LSB text is redistributed here. References do not become authoritative merely because multiple editions contain the same verse.

Cross-references: The curated starter links are editorial. The imported OpenBible.info cross-reference data is CC BY 4.0, primarily based on the public-domain Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. Source: OpenBible.info; transformed into bidirectional verse links and ranked by community votes. Reference votes indicate relevance, not certainty.
